Very handy programmers' editor (and even a great replacement for the
built-in Windows Notepad): syntax highlighting for many file formats
(HTML, PHP, C++, Fortran, Java, Perl, Python and much more - 15 languages
altogether), project management, macros, code templates,
help invokation for the currently used language (ofcourse ConText itself
does not contains these help files),
capturing console output. The program can be also set up to use
'parsing rules' to process the compiler output - thus helps to
find the position of the bugs! Small but great features follow:
the program recognizes file changes (modification, deletion),
can handle unlimited number of files together (and a file can heave even 4096 characters in a single line),
supports CR+LF / LF / CR text formats, support blocks selection,
finds matching brackets with a hotkey, etc.!
As you can see, it's a very promising text-editor which is under
continuous development! Code browser, file comparing features are
also planned, and I hope, there'll be a lot more ;)
A great visual file-compare tool which detects
differences between two text files and displays them using different colors.
You can toggle between files or display them together, or open
any of the files with the configurable texteditor, and in the options
screen you can define the differences to ignore (leading/trailing/all
white spaces or change in amount of white spaces, case sensitivity)
and the way to display or not to display them (colors, text editor,
detection of file changes while comparing them).
Though the task sounds easy, having this tool can save you a lot
of time when comparing files - and far better than using a command-line tool!
But you don't have to miss that functionality, it's already built in!
ExamDiff can save a Unix Diff-compatible output file ;)
A great multiplatform (Windows, Linux, etc.) office software package
with professional text editor,
spreadsheet, drawing, html-editor, presentation applications!
It has the best, near perfect Microsoft Office file format-compatibility
that's possible for a non-Microsoft application - both for loading
or saving your documents. OpenOffice also introduces it's own,
XML-based file-formats - it means, that your documents are stored
in the simplest and easiest standardized format, which can also be
readable by any other XML-capable application!
OpenOffice has a very wide range of features while it takes much less
space than the Microsoft products do (can be downloaded in a 50MB zip file).
The developer community at www.openoffice.org are working hard to
create the best desktop office application, and anyone can support it!
There are new builds released continuously, by the time of writing
this the newest build is 641d, and the next one is going to be
the final 1.0 version. A real must-to-have stuff!
